About Dr S Geness
Dr Sheena Geness is a WITS graduate with more than 24 years’ experience as a medical practitioner. She currently works as a HIV Clinician (graduated Cum Laude from the Colleges of Medicine South Africa) and an Aesthetics specialist (Diploma of Aesthetics from American Academy of Aesthetics). She is currently an active member of the South African HIV Clinician’s Society of South Africa, a member of the Colleges of Medicine South Africa and an active member of the American Academy of Aesthetics.
Dr Sheena Geness is an internationally acclaimed award winning philanthropist, Brand South Africa/ Play Your Part ambassador and 3M Littmann village ambassador. She is the founder of Geness Foundation, a non-profit organisation that caters to the needs of impoverished communities in South Africa. Geness Foundation has multiple beneficiaries in the arenas of health, education, entrepreneurship and sport. Most recently the foundation has expanded its mission into the upliftment of green spaces, parks and recreational spaces. Dr Geness gives bursaries to graduates of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls and has actively changed the lives of young women at tertiary level.
She is the recipient of The Loreal Paris Woman of Worth, Woman of Wonder, Owami Woman of the year, Woman: Real Architect of Society Award recipient in Health Excellence, Woman Appreciating Woman Award winner and featured as The Panache Top 50 Global Icon of 2022. She was previously awarded as a Visionary Woman of Wonder Award for her commitment & work as a frontline Covid19 doctor. Most recently Dr Geness has been named the Future Leader of Philanthropy 2023. Dr Geness has also been the online doctor on call for SABC 3 Mela’s Tv Show for Breast Cancer Awareness and has written an editorial piece for the Buddy’s Magazine. She has been featured on various tv, radio, online and editorial features.
She is the founder of the Femininity Fair, a women’s empowerment workshop that educated women on issues of health care especially focusing on breast health, dermatology, sexual health and aesthetics. Dr Sheena Geness runs a highly efficient and organised dispensing practice that caters to the comprehensive healthcare needs of her patients. Together with Annova and Pepfar, she previously ran a free HIV clinic contributing to national goals of curbing the spread of HIV, free testing and initiation of free antiretroviral therapy. Dr Geness prides herself on patient orientated care first. Over the years she has developed strong bonds with her patients whilst delivering top class medical care. The practice has been structured to cater for the critical needs of the community that it serves and remains affordable to all.
